RD (Producer): "Meals: Please can I check if refreshments / food & drink are provided for the musicians?... Maybe 18:30 / curfew time? As there is a very short interval between sets 1 & 2." Title
Utilise Band Rider Description Instead of rearranging band meals around musician preferences, firmer measures need to be implemented to ensure smooth event management and compliance with client regulations. At Diáspora @ Old Gore Barn, Nr. Cirencester, Gloucestershire, 24/04/2022, the meal was rescheduled to an earlier time to accommodate musicians who needed to leave early. THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. To prevent these types of complications, a more structured approach is needed. The principle of “This is the deal on offer, take it or leave it” should be enforced. If musicians' availability presents scheduling conflicts, they should not be included in the meal plan. Instead, a rider per head should be offered to them. It is essential that the rider per head is charged regardless of whether the client is providing meals for the band. This approach ensures that the management maintains control and leverage over situations like these, where musicians' preferences or schedules conflict with the event’s smooth flow. By offering a rider, management can effectively satisfy musicians' needs without imposing additional complications on clients, venues, or chefs. The rider also provides an effective way to keep musicians happy and ensure they are booked for the gig, without creating unnecessary logistical challenges. Notes Comments Charging a rider per head offers flexibility and maintains control in situations where meal timing or availability is problematic. The incident at Old Gore Barn highlights the risk of disrupting the event schedule to accommodate musicians' changing preferences, which should be avoided in the future. A well-established rider system offers a simple, straightforward solution that reduces the potential for complications and misunderstandings related to food and meal timing.
