Hi OS, Title
Contractual Dialogues Via Email Description Sometimes, musicians transfer a management-related conversation to WhatsApp, as seen in incidents such as the DG case concerning Fiesta Latina @ The Forum, Barrow-in-Furness, Lancashire (23/03/2024) and the WB case regarding Diáspora @ Imperial College, London (Kensington) (11/07/2023). This shift can lead to formal discussions being misappropriated to an informal environment, which complicates tracking, accountability, and proper documentation of contractual matters. Although a directive was issued in early 2017 to address this, musicians continue to use WhatsApp instead of email for contractual discussions, which is deemed inappropriate for professional matters. Directive: Whenever this happens, refrain from replying to the WhatsApp directly. Instead, transcribe the WhatsApp conversation and quote it in an email reply. If a voice note is sent, transcribe the voice note and include it in the email response, but do not act on any further voice notes after that. This approach ensures that all important discussions remain within a formal, professional, and trackable environment, while minimizing miscommunication and ensuring proper documentation. Notes Comments Management conversations happening via WhatsApp are a secondary concern compared to verbal conversations, but still pose potential risks. While somewhat better than verbal exchanges, WhatsApp remains an informal medium and can complicate the clarity and professionalism of contractual matters. Returning to email for all management-related communications ensures that discussions are documented properly, and that responses are clear and professional. This approach had previously been pioneered during OS's decline of the Diáspora @ Hexham Abbey, Hexham, Northumberland (18/09/2020) event, where a similar situation arose, and this method was successfully applied. It should continue to be used going forward.
