Title
Check Performance Area Before Leaving

Description
On every gig, before leaving the premises, musicians should ensure that the performance area is thoroughly checked one last time. This includes using an iPhone or any available flashlight to verify that the area is completely clear of instruments, cables, plugs, or any other equipment brought by the musician. This practice helps avoid issues such as lost or forgotten items, ensuring that the area is left in good condition and without any missing equipment.

Notes Comments
Past attempts at managing inventories via FileMaker have proven ineffective due to the complexity of the operation and the fluid nature of event work. As a result, this practice has been replaced by a simpler, more direct policy of "check area is clear." This ensures a more straightforward and reliable approach to managing personal equipment, which avoids potential problems with missing items or damage.
The importance of this policy was highlighted in the case of Fiesta Latina @ The Forum, Barrow-in-Furness, Lancashire (23/03/2024), where RD reported missing equipment, including 2 blue jack leads and 1 black mains connector for the piano. Despite this inconvenience, the client (NAB) was accommodating and helpful, demonstrating a positive relationship despite the issue. This reinforces the importance of being thorough in checking the performance area before departure to prevent future losses.
